The neighbourhoods of Southwest Oakville contain great schools, shops and numerous parks including Coronation Park on the waterfront. Southwest Oakville neighbourhoods have remained popular due to the mature treed streets and relatively larger lot sizes. Many of the homes in the area are smaller bungalows and split levels built in the 1960s and 1970s which have been renovated extensively or replaced with larger modern two storey homes in recent years. The old village of Bronte has undergone extensive revitalization along the waterfront and continues to redevelop with live/work and townhomes amongst condominium apartment complexes. West, along the border with Burlington, is the new development Lakeshore Woods full of luxury family homes and upscale townhomes amidst parks and trails. Closer to the downtown core can be found Hopedale Mall, the YMCA and prestigious Appleby College.  There is easy access to the QEW and 403 as well as the GO train stations.
